Uber vs Ola and travel pattern of young India
Summary
In May 2017 Regalix polled 947 smartphone users across 12 cities in the country to understand their travel behavior, and their preference between the two top app based cab operators – Uber and Ola.
Here are some findings:
- Uber is Young India’s top cab-aggregator with 55% usage vs. 41% for Ola.
- Uber’s lead comes from Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, and Jaipur.
- In the metros, NCR, Bengaluru and Chennai, Ola and Uber are neck and neck.
- In the mega metro Mumbai, Ola has a slight lead over Uber.
- Women spend more on cabs than men; security was one of their most important considerations in selecting a cab.
